The statue was commissioned by Phra Kru Vibul Arjarakhun, the first abbot of Wat Muang temple, to memorialize Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The statue was created using money provided by Buddhists who saw it as an act of merit-making.

Sendai Daikannon, officially known as the Sendai Tendou Byakue Daikannon, is a colossal statue of Byakue Kannon holding a gem. It is located in Sendai, Japan.

The statue shows a manifestation of Bodhisattva Kannon known as Byakue Kannon, which translates as “White-robed Kannon”, holding the Cintamani gem. It is one of the tallest statues in the world and holds fifth position as of 2022. The tallest goddess statue in Japan held the title of the tallest statue in the world from 1991 to 1993.

The Laykyun Sekkya statue represents a standing Gautam Buddha adjacent to a reclining Gautam Buddha, representing the Mahaparinirvana scenario.
