The statue was commissioned by Phra Kru Vibul Arjarakhun, the first abbot of Wat Muang temple, to memorialize Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The statue was created using money provided by Buddhists who saw it as an act of merit-making.

Sendai Daikannon, officially known as the Sendai Tendou Byakue Daikannon, is a colossal statue of Byakue Kannon holding a gem. It is located in Sendai, Japan.
The statue shows a manifestation of Bodhisattva Kannon known as Byakue Kannon, which translates as “White-robed Kannon”, holding the Cintamani gem. It is one of the tallest statues in the world and holds fifth position as of 2022. The tallest goddess statue in Japan held the title of the tallest statue in the world from 1991 to 1993.

Ushiku Daibutsu is a Japanese statue located in Ushiku, Ibaraki Prefecture. The bronze monument was erected to honor the birth of Shinran, the founder of Buddhism’s “True Pure Land School.”
It is 120 metres tall, including the base and lotus platform, and was completed in 1993. From 1993 through 2008, the statue held the world record for the tallest statue. It is one of the top five tallest statues in the world as of 2022.

This Gautam Buddha in the Myanmar town of Khatakan Taung is 115.8 metre tall. Construction began in 1996 and was finished in 2008. It stood as the tallest statue in the world for a few months until the Spring Temple Buddha was built in September 2008.
The Laykyun Sekkya statue represents a standing Gautam Buddha adjacent to a reclining Gautam Buddha, representing the Mahaparinirvana scenario.

2 – Spring Temple Buddha

The Buddha is the world’s second tallest statue, standing at 420 feet. Until 2018, the gigantic statue of Vairocana Buddha was the world’s tallest statue.
